Why Blog?

Hello world! That’s programmer lingo for, “I’m a beginner!” I honestly have not a single clue how to write a read-worthy blog, but I want to try.

Why is Callie trying to blog?

  • I enjoy writing. It’s therapeutic for me.
  • I tried keeping a journal and found it to not be satisfying enough as only I knew about what I had written. I want to share my stories and ideas with anyone who cares to know.
  • Instagram isn’t enough for me. I want to expand on ideas without getting eyerolls due to my caption being a solid 3 paragraphs in length.
  • I think I’m funny and have interesting ideas. I don’t want to forget my thoughts.

I imagine my posts (when I finally get them written) will be far from perfect. I want everyone who reads my posts to know that I love feedback. I want to be corrected. Feel free to leave comments or contact me via social media with your edits. If my perspective is skewed or my logic is flawed, help me fix it.

What I hope to write about:

  • Computer Science!
    • I’m a baby programmer, so my initial posts on this subject will likely be fairly basic. If you (the reader) are an advanced programmer, this may be entertaining… or you might just want to wait for me to graduate to tune in to this blog.
  • Religion
    • I am a Christian. I accepted Jesus Christ as my Lord and Savior at the age of 4, and I have been raised in a Christian environment. I love philosophy and apologetics, and I hope to become better at defending my faith in a way that is not offensive to people with differing beliefs. If you are of a different religion than I am (or of the same religion), I would love to hear your perspective. While the goal is always to be unbiased, I am aware that I am extremely biased. Hopefully I’ll write some interesting content on my beliefs and what I learn about what others believe.
  • Health and Fitness
    • Since graduating from high school, I have become far more open about my past struggle with anorexia and bulimia (roughly ages 11 to 16). I think I tried to keep my eating disorder a secret for many years because I was not fully recovered. At this point, I am fully recovered and am proactive in fighting potential relapse. This has been a long journey for me, and I have learned quite a bit about health. I hope to blog a bit about my perspective on food and exercise in an effort to share what I’ve learned.
  • Time Management and Organization
    • Efficiency is something I am passionate about. Nothing frustrates me more than a mess I am unable to fix. While I am far from an expert on time management and organization, I am always seeking to learn more. I have a few organizational projects in mind that I could blog about… Let me know if this sounds interesting!
  • Art
    • Art is my favorite therapy. When I was younger, I approached art with the intention to outperform others… as I’ve gotten older, I have completely ditched that way of thinking. I will probably never be an expert on any one art form, but I will likely always enjoy experimenting with each avenue. My art posts will be sporadic as I am majoring in a science-based field (and don’t have a ton of therapy time), but they will happen every so often.
  • Anything in Demand
    • I want this blog to be free in topic. I don’t want to be glued to any specific thing because inspiration generally comes at me from a different source each week. If I find something to be interesting enough for me to write a page or two on, then I want to do that in the moment without reservations. As readers, you have a lot of say in what I write about. I look at blogging as a sort of business… I want to write what people want to read.

Thank you to all who invested time into reading this bit of text! I want to write for you guys, so never hesitate to direct message or email me with a post idea.
